Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 29, 2025

Welcome to StudyTreat, a digital learning platform (available via web, PWA, and mobile apps) that enables users to create and study flashcards. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and your rights regarding your data. StudyTreat is a global service, and we adhere to international data protection standards, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). By using StudyTreat, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Data Collection

We collect personal information to provide and improve our services. The types of data we collect include:

  • Account Information: When you register or log in with Google Single Sign-On (SSO), we receive basic profile information from your Google account – for example, your name, email address, and profile photo (if you have one). This helps create your StudyTreat profile. (We do not receive your Google password; authentication is handled by Google.) If you create an account through other methods in the future, we will similarly collect the personal details you provide (like your email and name).
  • User-Generated Content: We store the content you create on StudyTreat, such as flashcards, collections of cards, study notes, and test/quiz results. This includes any text or images you add to your cards, as well as performance data (like your quiz scores or progress through a collection). You may choose to mark this content as private or share it publicly with the StudyTreat community (see User-Generated Content and Sharing below for details).
  • Usage Data: Like many online services, we automatically collect data about how you use StudyTreat. This includes technical information and analytics data such as:

    • Device and Log Information: Your device type (e.g. phone, tablet, computer), operating system, browser type or app version, and device identifiers. We also log usage details like your IP address, timestamps of logins or actions, pages or screens visited, and features used.
    • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and local storage in your browser or device to remember your settings, keep you logged in, and gather usage analytics. These technologies may collect information about your interactions (for instance, which flashcard sets you viewed) to help us personalize your experience and understand overall usage.
  • Communications: If you contact us for support or provide feedback (for example, via email or an in-app feedback form), we will collect your name, email address, and the content of your correspondence. This helps us address your inquiries and improve the service.
  • Optional Profile Info: StudyTreat may allow you to add additional profile details (such as a username or avatar) or connect other services in the future. Providing this information is optional, and it will be stored as part of your account if you choose to add it.

Sensitive Data: StudyTreat does not intentionally collect any sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial information, or health data. Please refrain from including sensitive personal details about yourself or others in your flashcards or profile.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes related to operating and improving StudyTreat. Specifically, your data is used to:

  • Provide and Maintain the Service: We use your information to create your account and let you log in (using Google SSO or other methods), to save and retrieve your flashcards and collections, and to display your study progress. For example, we use your Google-provided email to identify your account and your saved cards to show them when you log in.
  • Facilitate Learning and Collaboration: Your data enables core features of StudyTreat. We use your flashcard content and test results to provide you with the learning tools and track your performance. If you make content public or collaborate with others, we use your profile information to attribute content to you and to manage contribution features (for instance, showing your username when you propose a change to someone’s flashcard set in our GitHub-style pull request system).
  • Communicate with You: We may use your email address or in-app notifications to send important updates about the platform. This includes confirmations (like account creation or changes), announcements of new features, changes to this Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, and responses to support inquiries. We do not send promotional or marketing emails unrelated to StudyTreat’s service without your consent. If we ever introduce newsletters or optional updates, you will have the choice to opt-in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Improve and Analyze the Service: Usage data (including analytics and cookies) helps us understand how StudyTreat is used. We analyze this data to debug issues, optimize performance, and develop new features. For example, knowing which features are most popular or where users have difficulties allows us to refine the user experience. We may also aggregate usage information (in a way that does not personally identify you) to generate insights into learning habits or to report overall platform usage statistics.
  • Ensure Security and Prevent Misuse: Information like IP addresses and activity logs are used to protect the security of StudyTreat and its users. We monitor for suspicious or unauthorized activities on accounts. This helps us detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, or other activities that violate our Terms or could harm our users or the platform’s integrity. If necessary, we might use certain data to block malicious behavior and keep StudyTreat safe.
  • Legal Compliance: We may process and retain your information as needed to comply with applicable laws and regulations. For instance, we may keep records of transactions (if any) for accounting, or use data to comply with law enforcement requests or to exercise legal rights. (More details on legal disclosures are in Data Sharing and Disclosure below.)

We only use your personal data for the purposes described above and will ask for your consent before using it for any unrelated purpose (for example, if we ever consider using your data for new marketing purposes, we will provide an opt-in choice).

Third-Party Services

StudyTreat relies on a few trusted third-party services to function efficiently. We only share the necessary information with these providers, and they are obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. The key third-party services we use include:

  • Google Single Sign-On (Authentication): We use Google’s OAuth service to allow you to sign up and log in quickly and securely. When you choose to log in with Google, you are redirected to Google’s authentication system to verify your identity. With your permission, Google then shares your basic profile details (such as name, email, and profile photo) with StudyTreat. This information is used to create or access your StudyTreat account. Important: StudyTreat does not see or store your Google account password. Your use of Google SSO is also governed by Google’s Privacy Policy; we recommend reviewing it if you have concerns about the data Google provides to us.
  • Analytics Tools: To understand how our platform is used and to continually improve it, we use third-party analytics services (for example, Google Analytics or similar services). These tools collect information about your device and usage patterns on StudyTreat (such as pages viewed, time spent, and interactions). They often use cookies or mobile identifiers to recognize your device. The analytics data we obtain helps us analyze user engagement (for instance, which flashcard collections are most popular or how users progress through quizzes) and identify areas for improvement. We configure these tools not to collect more data than necessary, and where possible, we use settings that anonymize data (for example, IP anonymization in Google Analytics for EU users). The data collected by analytics providers is subject to their own privacy policies, but they are not allowed to use StudyTreat user data for any purpose other than providing analytics services to us.
  • Hosting and Data Storage: StudyTreat is hosted on cloud servers provided by reputable third-party hosting companies. This means your data (including personal info and flashcard content) is stored on their infrastructure (for example, services like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure). We choose hosting providers that implement strong security measures. These providers may process or store personal data on our behalf, but only to keep StudyTreat running (for example, storing your account information in a database, or serving content to you when you access the app). They do not access your data for their own uses, and they are contractually bound to protect it.
  • Other Service Providers: We may use additional third-party services to support specific features. For instance, if StudyTreat sends emails (like password reset links or support replies), we might use an email delivery service provider. If our mobile apps require push notifications, we might use services like Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple/Google push notification systems to send those. If we implement error tracking or performance monitoring, those tools (e.g., Sentry for error logging) might receive some device or app state information when a crash occurs. In all cases, we share the minimal data necessary with these providers. For example, an email service would get your email address and the message content to deliver it to you; a push notification service would get a device token but not the contents of your flashcards. All such providers are selected carefully and are required to handle your data securely and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

We do not integrate with any social media platforms or advertising networks that collect your data, except as explicitly mentioned above. If this changes in the future (for example, if we enable optional login via another platform or add a new third-party integration), we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you as needed.

User-Generated Content and Sharing

StudyTreat is centered around user-generated educational content. It’s important to understand how your content is handled and who can see it:

  • Private vs. Public Content: When you create flashcards or collections on StudyTreat, you typically have control over their privacy setting. By default, content you create is private to your account (only you can access it) unless you choose to share it. You may organize your flashcards into personal collections that only you can study. However, StudyTreat also allows you to share your knowledge: you can mark certain flashcard sets or collections as public, making them accessible to other StudyTreat users (and possibly viewable by anyone with the link). If you make content public, the title, cards, and any associated information will be visible to others on the platform. Your StudyTreat profile name or username may be displayed alongside public content to credit you as the creator.
  • Community Contributions (GitHub-Style PR System): StudyTreat offers a collaborative feature similar to a “pull request” on GitHub, where users can propose changes or improvements to public flashcard sets created by others. If you suggest edits or additions to someone else’s public collection, your proposed content and your user identity (e.g., your name or username) will be visible to the owner of that collection (and potentially to others if the proposals are publicly tracked). Likewise, if you have public content, other users may send you suggested edits. How we handle this data: Proposed changes are stored in our system just like other user content. If a suggestion is accepted by the content owner, it becomes part of the public content (and your contribution might be noted in change logs or acknowledgments). If you engage in these collaboration features, please be aware that your contributions and profile info will be visible to the relevant community members.
  • Public Content Considerations: If you choose to make content public, please remember that anyone can view and use that information. Do not include personal or sensitive data in content that you intend to share publicly. StudyTreat is meant for educational content – we discourage sharing things like your personal contact info or private details within flashcards. While public content is meant to be open for learning purposes, your personal account data (like your email) is not exposed to other users. Other users might see your name or chosen display username on your public flashcard sets, but not private data like your email.
  • Internal Access and Moderation: StudyTreat’s team does not routinely monitor your private content. We treat your private flashcards and data as your own. However, for safety and to enforce our Terms of Service, authorized staff may access user-generated content if necessary – for example, if a piece of content is reported for violating guidelines or for debugging a user issue with their permission. Any access to user content is done with care and only for legitimate reasons. We will never use your personal content for purposes unrelated to the service (for example, we won’t publish your private flashcards or study data without your consent).
  • Removing Content: You can edit or delete your flashcards and collections at any time while logged in. If you delete a flashcard set, it will no longer be accessible to you or others (if it was public, it will be removed from public view). Note that if someone had copied or exported your public flashcards while they were available, StudyTreat cannot retrieve or delete those copies on that person’s device. Also, if you contributed to someone else’s collection and later delete your account, the content you contributed might remain with that collection (but it would no longer have your profile attached to it). If you have concerns about content removal, please contact us.

In summary, you control the visibility of the content you create. Private content stays private to you, and public content is shared at your discretion. We encourage you to share knowledge while being mindful of your privacy. StudyTreat will use and display your content only as needed to operate the service and according to the settings you choose.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We treat your personal information with care and do not share it with third parties except in the situations described here. Importantly, we do not sell your personal data to advertisers or other third parties for marketing or profit. We only share information for legitimate purposes of running and improving StudyTreat, as outlined below:

  • Service Providers (Processors): As noted under Third-Party Services, we share data with companies that provide services on our behalf, such as hosting, data storage, analytics, email delivery, and authentication. These providers process your information only under our instructions and for the purposes we’ve described. They are bound by confidentiality agreements and by law to protect your data. For example, our cloud database provider stores your account and content data so that StudyTreat can retrieve it when you use the app; they do not use that data for anything else.
  • With Your Consent: Aside from using Google SSO (which you initiate when logging in with Google), if we ever ask you to connect StudyTreat with another service or to share information with a third party not described in this policy, we will do so only if you give consent. For instance, if in the future you opt in to a feature to share your achievements on social media or link StudyTreat with a school’s system, we would only share data in that context with your permission and clearly explain what will be shared.
  • Legal Requirements and Safety: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or if we believe in good faith that such access, use, preservation, or disclosure is reasonably necessary to:

    • Comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request (such as a court order or subpoena).
    • Enforce our Terms of Service or investigate potential violations thereof.
    • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues (for example, investigating suspicious activity on an account).
    • Protect the rights, property, or safety of StudyTreat, our users, or the public as required or permitted by law. This could include exchanging information with other organizations for fraud protection and spam prevention.

If we need to disclose data in response to a legal request, we will attempt to notify the affected user (for example, by email) unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or the request is an emergency.

  • Business Transfers: If StudyTreat (or its operating company) is involved in a merger, acquisition, investment, reorganization, or sale of assets, your personal data may be transferred to the successor or new owner as part of that transaction. If such a change in ownership occurs, we will ensure that the new entity is bound to respect the terms of this Privacy Policy (or a policy with equivalent protections), and we will notify you (for example, via email or a notice on our site) of any such transfer and any choices you may have regarding your information.
  • Aggregated or De-Identified Data: We may share information that has been aggregated or anonymized in such a way that it cannot be linked back to an individual user. For example, we might publish trends or insights like “X% of StudyTreat users studied at least 3 times a week” or share learning statistics with researchers or partners. Such information contains no personal details and is purely statistical. This kind of data sharing is not restricted because it does not identify you personally.

Aside from the situations above, StudyTreat will not disclose your personal information to third parties. In particular, we do not sell, rent, or give away your name, email, or any other personal details to marketing companies or advertisers. Your study data (flashcards and results) is not shared with any external entity, except as needed to provide our service (and then under strict protections as described).

International Data Transfers and Global Compliance

StudyTreat is used by learners around the world. We want you to be confident that your data is protected no matter where you are. Here’s what we do to ensure global privacy compliance:

  • Data Storage Locations: The personal data we collect may be stored and processed on servers in various countries. Currently, our primary servers are located in regions such as the United States and/or Canada (Note: this is an example; actual regions would be specified if known). This means that if you are using StudyTreat from outside those regions, your data might be transferred across international borders to be stored or processed. Likewise, our support or engineering team may access data (under strict controls) from different countries when servicing the platform.
  • Safeguards for International Transfer: Regardless of where your data is processed, we handle it under the same security and privacy standards described in this policy. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, and your data is transferred out of that region, we ensure an appropriate legal mechanism is in place for the transfer. For example, we may use European Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses with our service providers to ensure that your EU personal data receives an adequate level of protection even when stored in a country not deemed to have equivalent privacy laws. Similarly, for users in other jurisdictions with data export requirements, we comply with those rules.
  • GDPR Compliance: For individuals in the EU, UK, or other regions with similar laws, StudyTreat acts as the “data controller” of your personal information. We rely on certain legal bases to process your data: primarily, processing is necessary to perform the contract between you and us (i.e., to provide the StudyTreat service you signed up for), and in some cases we may rely on legitimate interests (such as improving our product or ensuring security) or your consent (for optional features or communications). We uphold all data subject rights granted by GDPR (see Your Rights and Choices below). We also practice data minimization and privacy by design, meaning we only collect what we need and build our platform with privacy considerations in mind.
  • CCPA Compliance: If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the CCPA. This Privacy Policy outlines the categories of personal information we collect (see Data Collection above), the purposes for which we use it (see How We Use Your Information), and the categories of third parties with whom we share information (see Third-Party Services and Data Sharing and Disclosure). We confirm that:

    • We do not sell personal information (as defined by CCPA). Therefore, the opt-out right (“Do Not Sell My Info”) is not applicable on StudyTreat – because we don’t engage in selling data.
    • You have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, to request deletion of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. We explain how you can exercise these rights in the Your Rights and Choices section below.
  • Other International Laws: StudyTreat strives to comply with other privacy regulations around the world, such as Canada’s PIPEDA, Brazil’s LGPD, and others, to the extent they apply to us. We aim to provide a level of transparency and control to all users, not just those in specific regions. That means even if you are not protected by GDPR or CCPA legally, we want to offer you similar control over your information.

In summary, no matter where you live or where your data is processed, StudyTreat protects your personal information in line with globally recognized privacy principles. If you have any questions about cross-border data handling, you can contact us (see Contact Us below).

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required for legitimate business or legal reasons. Here’s how we approach data retention:

  • Active Account Data: If you have an active StudyTreat account, we will keep your personal information and user-generated content for as long as you continue to use the service. This allows us to provide you with your flashcards and history every time you log in. For example, your collections and test results remain in our database so you can review them until you decide to remove them or close your account.
  • Inactive Accounts: If you stop using StudyTreat (become inactive) but do not delete your account, we may retain your data for a reasonable period. This is to make it easier for you to resume where you left off if you return, and for us to maintain accurate records. We periodically review accounts and may delete or anonymize data from accounts that have been inactive for an extended duration (we would likely provide notice before doing so). However, we do not immediately purge data just because of inactivity, especially if we believe you may return.
  • Deleted Accounts: If you choose to delete your StudyTreat account, or request that we delete it, we will remove or anonymize personal information associated with your account. This process generally includes deleting your profile information (name, email) and removing or dissociating your user ID from your flashcard content. Content you created may be deleted unless you shared it publicly and it’s being used by others (in which case we may retain the content but remove any personal attribution to you). We will also delete any stored test results or other data tied to your identity. Please note that complete removal from all systems may not be instantaneous; your data might remain in secure backups for a short period until those backups cycle out. We maintain backups to ensure the integrity of the service and for disaster recovery, but if your account is deleted, your data will not be restored from backup except as required for legal compliance or security purposes.
  • Retention for Legal Obligations: We might retain certain information for longer if necessary to comply with our legal obligations or legitimate interests. For instance:

    • Legal Requirements: Some data may be kept to satisfy law enforcement requests, court orders, or to comply with financial regulations (if any payments or transactions were involved, though currently StudyTreat’s described scope doesn’t include payment info).
    • Dispute Resolution: If there’s an ongoing issue, dispute, or investigation involving your account (such as a complaint you filed, or a dispute about content ownership), we will retain relevant information until it is resolved.
    • Security and Prevention: We may keep data necessary for detecting/preventing fraud or abuse even after deletion of an account, if that data could help us identify wrongdoing (for example, retaining a device ID or IP that was associated with banned misuse, to block future malicious activity).
  • Anonymized Data: In some cases, rather than full deletion, we may anonymize your data (strip it of any personal identifiers) so that it can no longer be linked to you. For example, we might convert your study performance data into an aggregated form for statistical analysis. Once anonymized, we may retain and use that information indefinitely for analysis, research, or to improve StudyTreat, since it no longer identifies any individual.

In short, we keep your personal data only as long as necessary. When it is no longer needed, we aim to delete it or anonymize it. If you have specific questions about our retention practices for a certain type of data, feel free to contact us.

Data Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. StudyTreat implements a range of technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Here are some key aspects of our security approach:

  • Encryption: We use encryption to protect data in transit and at rest. For instance, all communications between your browser/app and StudyTreat’s servers are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. This means that when you log in or upload flashcards, the data is encrypted while it travels over the internet. We also encrypt sensitive data stored on our servers where appropriate. Passwords or credentials (if any were used besides Google SSO) are stored in a hashed form, not in plain text.
  • Access Controls: We limit access to personal data to authorized personnel who need it to operate or support the service. StudyTreat staff and contractors who may have access to user data (for example, a support engineer helping troubleshoot an account issue) are under strict confidentiality obligations. We use authentication and administrative safeguards to ensure that internal access to data is tightly controlled and monitored.
  • Secure Infrastructure: Our third-party hosting providers maintain robust physical and network security. They typically have measures like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and 24/7 security monitoring in place. We keep our systems updated with security patches and follow industry best practices to prevent vulnerabilities. Regular backups are made to prevent data loss, and these backups are stored securely.
  • Testing and Training: We periodically test our platform’s security, which may include vulnerability scans and, occasionally, third-party security audits or penetration testing. We also train our team on data privacy and security protocols, so they are aware of best practices and social engineering risks (like phishing).
  • Payment Security: (Note: If StudyTreat has any payment or premium features in the future requiring financial information, we would include that here. For now, StudyTreat does not collect financial data. If that changes, we will use reputable payment processors compliant with PCI-DSS, meaning StudyTreat itself wouldn’t store your credit card info).
  • Incident Response: While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach or security incident affecting your personal information, we have procedures in place to address it promptly. We will inform affected users and the relevant authorities as required by law, and we will take all necessary steps to mitigate the issue and prevent future occurrences.

You also play a role in keeping your data secure. We encourage you to maintain the security of your Google account (or other login credentials if used) since that’s how you access StudyTreat. Do not share your login access with others, and use good security practices (like enabling two-factor authentication on your Google account). StudyTreat will never ask you for your password via email or unsolicited communication.

Your Rights and Choices

You have rights and choices regarding your personal information on StudyTreat. We believe in giving all our users – no matter where you live – meaningful control over your data. Below, we outline the rights you have and how to exercise them:

  • Access Your Information: You have the right to know what personal data we have about you. Many pieces of information are available to you directly when you use StudyTreat (for example, you can view your profile details and all your flashcard content in your account). If you require a comprehensive report of your personal data, you can contact us to request it. We will provide you with a copy of the personal information we have on file for you in a common format (this is sometimes called the right to data portability under GDPR).
  • Correct or Update Your Information: If any personal information we have is incorrect or outdated, you have the right to correct it. You can update certain information on your own: for instance, if StudyTreat allows editing your display name or other profile info, you can do so in your account settings. If you need assistance updating something (say your email changed and you need to update your login email), you can contact us and we will help rectify or update the information as needed.
  • Delete Your Data (Right to Be Forgotten): You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. In StudyTreat, you can delete your account via the account settings page (if the feature is provided) or by contacting us to request account deletion. Deleting your account will remove your personal information and private content from our active databases (subject to the retention notes above). We will also anonymize or delete any public content attribution on your request if you do not wish your name to remain associated with content you previously made public. Do note that if you only want to delete certain content (like a specific flashcard set) you can do that without deleting your entire account. We provide granular control so you can remove individual items or everything, as you prefer.
  • Withdraw Consent / Opt-Out: In cases where we rely on your consent to process data (for example, if you agreed to receive a newsletter or if you connected StudyTreat to another service), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. If you no longer want to receive a certain type of email from us, you can use the “unsubscribe” link in the email or change your notification settings (if available). For essential service emails (like password resets or important account notices), you cannot opt out of those since they are necessary for using StudyTreat. However, we minimize such emails. If we ever were to use your data for marketing (which we currently do not without explicit opt-in), you could opt out of such use.
  • Object or Restrict Processing: In certain jurisdictions (such as the EU), you have the right to object to or ask us to limit (restrict) processing of your data under specific circumstances. For example, if you believe we are processing some information unlawfully or beyond what’s necessary, you can request a restriction. You can also object to processing done under legitimate interests, such as any profiling or analytics, and we will consider such requests. Practically, StudyTreat’s processing is mostly tied to providing the service you ask for, but if you have concerns, let us know.
  • Non-Discrimination: StudyTreat will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. This means we won’t deny you the service, give you lower quality service, or charge you different prices just because you made a privacy rights request (for example, asking for your data or deleting your account). Some data is required for the service to function, so if you ask us to delete that data, you might not be able to continue using StudyTreat – but that’s a direct result of your request (not discrimination). If you rejoin StudyTreat after deleting your data, you’ll simply start fresh.
  • California “Shine the Light”: California residents can also request information about any third parties with whom we have shared their personal information for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes in the past year. However, as stated, StudyTreat does not share personal data with third parties for their own direct marketing, so this is generally not applicable. We can confirm upon request that we haven’t done such sharing.
  • Automated Decision-Making: StudyTreat does not make any legally significant decisions about you using purely automated processes without human involvement. (For example, we don’t have automated account closures or grading that affects your rights – any analysis is just for your learning feedback). If that ever changes, you would have rights to contest significant automated decisions, and we would inform you of that in this policy.
  • Complaints: If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint. We encourage you to contact us first so we can address your concerns directly. However, if you are in the EU, you have the right to file a complaint with your country’s Data Protection Authority (DPA). In the UK, that would be the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). In Canada, the Privacy Commissioner, etc. Similarly, in other jurisdictions, you can contact the appropriate supervisory authority. We will cooperate with these authorities to resolve any issues.

How to Exercise Your Rights: To exercise any of the rights above, you can contact us via email at privacy@studytreat.com. Please describe your request clearly – for example, "I would like a copy of my data" or "Please delete my account and all associated data." For security, we may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (we wouldn’t want to delete the wrong account or give your data to someone else). Verification might involve confirming your email address or other information we have on file. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law (generally within 30 days for access or deletion requests, as required by GDPR/CCPA, with the possibility of a reasonable extension if necessary, which we would communicate to you).

There is no charge for making a reasonable request. If requests become excessive or unfounded (e.g., repetitive without reason), we reserve the right to refuse or charge a reasonable fee as allowed by law, but we’ll always inform you of the reasoning.

Remember that many aspects of your data are under your direct control via the StudyTreat interface (like editing your content or profile). We encourage you to use those tools, but we’re here to help with anything that requires our assistance.

Children’s Privacy

StudyTreat is intended for use by students and learners of all ages, but it is not directed at children under the age of 13 without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not register for an account or provide any personal information in the app without your parent or guardian’s permission.

For parents or guardians: If you become aware that a child under 13 (or under the applicable age of consent in your region, which is 16 in some countries) has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately (see Contact Us below). We will take steps to delete the account and any associated data for that child.

In certain cases, we may offer a version of StudyTreat suitable for younger students that can be used under teacher or parent supervision (for example, using a parent’s email to sign up, in compliance with COPPA – the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). If such a feature or account type exists, it will have its own parental consent process and perhaps a specialized privacy section. Unless explicitly offered, assume that StudyTreat accounts are for users 13 and older.

We strongly encourage parents and educators to be involved in the online activities of children to ensure their personal information is used safely and responsibly.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.

If the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice — such as via email notification to the address associated with your account or by placing a notice on our website or in-app announcements. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.

Your continued use of StudyTreat after any update to this Privacy Policy will constitute your acknowledgment of the changes and your agreement to be bound by the updated policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using StudyTreat and, if you wish, delete your account or contact us for further assistance.
